The focus will be on the Indian cricket team when they begin their ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 campaign against Bangladesh on February 20. They are also set to clash against tournament hosts Pakistan to revive the historic rivalry on February 23.
After the BCCI's reluctance to travel to Pakistan for the ninth edition of the 50-over tournament, the PCB agreed to ICC’s request for a hybrid model. The Indian team will play all of their games in Dubai, including potential knockout games.
Ahead of the tournament, Rohit Sharma’s men are involved in a three-match ODI series against England at home. The Men in Blue donned a new jersey during the first ODI in Nagpur and fans were quick to notice some big changes to the tri-colour jersey.
The new jersey has a tri-colour embedded on the shoulder straps, which also matches the official manufacturer Adidas’ famous three stripes. Two golden stars are also stitched just above the BCCI’s logo on the left side of the chest.
The Indian cricket team will wear the same jersey in the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025 but we can expect one major change to it. Due to it being an ICC tournament, all teams are required to print the ‘Champions Trophy 2025 Pakistan’ on their jersey.
The BCCI reportedly showed their dissent on printing the hosts’ name on their jerseys due to political differences between two neighbouring nations. However, the ICC has managed to convince the Indian cricket board to follow the protocols. Meanwhile, Indian cricket will look to avenge their infamous 2017 final loss against Pakistan. India reached the finals of the last two editions of the tournament, winning in 2013 by beating England and losing in the 2017 final against Pakistan.
India won the first two ODIs against England to seal the series but their recent struggles in the Tests against Australia and New Zealand put them under pressure going into the Champions Trophy 2025. Indian fans will be hoping for positive news on Jasprit Bumrah’s availability as the premier pacer faces a race against time to fully recover from his injury.
