ted The senior Pakistan opener and newly appointed vice-captain Shan Masood was in the headlines of social media as the management omitted him from the playing XI of the second of the three-match ODI series against New Zealand. Notably, he was appointed as the vice-captain of the team as well but couldn’t make it to the playing XI.

Although, he made his ODI comeback in the ongoing three-match ODI series against New Zealand. Notably, he appeared for the first time in 50-overs cricket since his last appearance for the men in green in the Dubai ODI against Australia almost four years back in the year 2019.

But the ODI comeback didn’t go up to the expectations in the last Karachi ODI of the series against the Blackcaps. The 33-year-old could survive only for two balls and got caught behind by Tom Latham off Lockie Ferguson on the last ball of the second over in the first innings.

The Pakistan cricket fans didn’t make it too late in taking to Twitter and trolling Shan Masood mercilessly. The fans also questioned his position in the team as the vice-captain.

Speaking of the match so far, Babar Azam’s men are batting first after winning the toss and lost Shan Masood and skipper Babar Azam himself on the score of 40 runs in 11.3 overs. At the time of filling this copy, opener Fakhar Zaman and wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan are there in the middle with individual scores of 28 and 8 runs respectively.

Lockie Ferguson and Michael Bracewell have scalped one wicket and provided early breakthroughs to the visitors.

The series between the hosts and the Blackcaps have been leveled on a score line of 1-1 after both teams won one match each in the first two ODIs of the series. Both Pakistan and Kane Williamson’s men will be eyeing to finish on a winning note to seal the series by a margin of 2-1.
