Rohit Sharma’s Cricket Academy Crickingdom is very popular in India. It has several branches in more than fifteen Indian cities and is one of the country’s premier institutes for Cricket Coaching. In the recent turn of events, it has been confirmed that the Indian skipper is looking forward to launching a branch of his academy in California, USA. Crickingdom is already operational in Singapore and Japan. There are plans for expansion in neighbouring Bangladesh. However, their website already has the academy in the USA listed and it is expected to start operations shortly. A photograph from the pre-launch celebrations was posted by Chetan Suryawanshi, one of Rohit’s business associates.

Rohit Sharma was stationed in the West Indies for the multi-format tour. Team India won the two-game Test series by 1-0 under his captaincy. Moreover, he scored a brilliant hundred in the first Test. Following the series victory, the visitors went on to win the three-game ODI series. They won the first game under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy but he batted lower down the order and completed the remainder of the job for his team.

Rohit Sharma was dropped in the second and third ODIs vs West Indies

He was dropped for the next two games as Hardik Pandya assumed the captaincy. The visitors won the series 2-1. But Rohit did not return home straightaway as Virat Kohli did. Rather, he stayed back for the plans of Crickingdom’s launch in California. The USA is very close to the Islands of the West Indies hence, it made logistical sense for Rohit to travel there directly rather than returning to India.

Speaking of Team India’s current commitments, they are involved in a five-match T20I series against the West Indies which is the final series of their multi-format tour. Both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have been left out of the squad. The visitors started the series on a losing note and will be looking to bounce back in the four remaining matches. Notably, a few of the T20Is are also scheduled to take place in Florida stretching team India’s tour to the USA.
