‘Boriya Bistar leke nikal lo’ - Delhi fans slam Ricky Ponting for predicting Rajasthan as one of the strong contenders in Indian T20 League 2023

Here is how fans have slammed Ricky Ponting for his bold prediction about the runners-up of the last edition of the competition

The Rajasthan franchise was the runners-up in the last edition of the Indian T20 League. Gujarat franchise defeated them in the final. So, this year, they will look to win this prestigious trophy for the second time in their history. Now, the Delhi franchise’s coach, Ricky Ponting also came up with a huge remark on Rajasthan.

In a review show of the Apex council of Cricket, Ponting was asked which team can reach the final of this upcoming edition of the tournament apart from his team, Delhi.  In reply to that, Ricky Ponting said that the Sanju Samson-led team has a great squad and have all qualities to be in the final again.

“The other finalist last year, Rajasthan, I think have got a really, really good squad.” - Ricky Ponting

Ricky Ponting said: "It's a tough question as very rarely does a team dominate the Indian T20 League from the start to the finish. Obviously, Gujarat last year were amazing, a brand new team and were able to win the tournament. The other finalist last year, Rajasthan, I think have got a really, really good squad. And we said that last year, immediately after the auction, we were pretty impressed with what they were able to do and put a good squad together. They've only built on that again this year. I think Rajasthan will be there, thereabouts.”

"It's a hard game to judge and a hard game to understand who's going to win. Who stands up in the moment will generally win more often than not. But if I'm looking at the squads, Rajasthan has got a good squad as anybody," Ponting concluded. But, listening to that, Delhi fans were not happy and they slammed their head coach on the social media platform. However, regarding his own team, the former Aussie skipper said: “I don't know what a lot of the other squads have got as far as young talent's concerned, but I know we've got a couple here that are very, very good and we're hoping to be able to showcase them as the season goes on."
