On 16 March 2023, Islamabad United locked horns with Peshawar Zalmi in eliminator 1 of the ongoing Pakistan Super League. All eyes were on Babar Azam and his side as they took on the Shadab Khaan-led franchise. However, Babar led the team to victory as they will now play eliminator 2 against Lahore Qalandars.

But, a video has gone viral from the match where Shadab Khan was seen predicting Babar Azam’s dismissal beforehand. He was heard saying “Babar out hai is over mei” (Babar is going to be out in this over) as it got caught in the stump mic. Then, on that over, he picked up the wickets of the Zalmi skipper. Seeing that, fans went crazy and made fixing allegations about the league.

Speaking of the video, the incident occurred during the 13th over Zalmi’s innings. Babar Azam was on the crease while Shadab Khan came up to bowl. Before starting that over, he predicted and it really happened on the sixth delivery of the same over. Shadab trapped Babar plumb in front of the stumps. Speaking of the match, the Islamabad skipper won the toss and opted to field first. While batting first, Zalmi scored 183 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs. Babar scored 64 runs off 39 balls, including 10 boundaries. For Islamabad, their skipper Shadab took two wickets for 40 runs in four overs.

In reply, Islamabad United failed to chase it down as they reached 171 runs for six wickets in 20 overs. Shadab Khan remained not out on 26* runs off 12 balls, including three fours and one six. Sohaib Maqsood was the highest scorer for them with 60 runs off 48 balls, including seven fours and two sixes. Aamer Jamal won the player of the match award for picking up two wickets for 36 runs in four overs.
