Indian Cricket Team fans had a bad Thursday when India lost to Sri Lanka by 20 runs. The team saw bowlers bowling no-balls which resulted in an inflated target. And now, the news about Rishabh Pant is disheartening for the national team fans as well as his fans across the globe.

Rishabh Pant met with an unfortunate accident near Haryana when he was visiting his mother to give a surprise. The player suffered horrific injuries which will keep him away from the action for six months and above.

The left handed wicket keeper batsman was recently airlifted to Dehradun. However, the player is now again airlifted to Mumbai for additional medical support. Rishabh Pant is receiving treatment now at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital.

According to the doctors at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, the player has suffered a severe ligament tear. The extent and tier of injury is yet to be assessed by the doctors at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital.

According to an Indian Cricket Board spokesperson, it would need more than six to nine months for the player to resume basic training. Talking to media, the unquoted Indian Cricket Board spokesperson said:

At this stage extent of tear is not known. A clearer picture can only come in the next 3-4 days. But the doctors at the hospital feel Pant’s ligament tear is of severe nature. The kind of workload a wicketkeeper has to go through makes us feel Pant can comeback to competitive cricket only after 6-9 months

If the news is indeed true, it will be a severe blow for the Indian National Team as the player would miss out on the World Cup 2023 happening in India. The initial reports stated the player would be back for the WTC finals but that also remains doubtful.
