Hobart Hurricanes will be up against Adelaide Strikers in match 22 of the Big Bash League (BBL). The Hurricanes are placed fourth on the points table with 10 points, while the Strikers are placed sixth with seven points. Hurricanes picked up a comprehensive win over Melbourne Stars in the last game.
The batting had struggled in the last few games for Hurricanes. However, most of the batters hit the right notes against Stars, with Ben McDermott top-scoring with 67. Matthew Wade and D Arcy Short also made crucial contributions. Later, a collective effort from the bowlers helped them restrict Stars to 159-9, helping the team win the game by 24 runs. The all-round show against Stars will be a big confidence booster for Hurricanes going into the game against Strikers.
Meanwhile, the Strikers are coming off a thumping 39-run loss against Brisbane Heat. Chasing a mammoth target of 209, the Strikers lost two early wickets for just 17 runs. From there on, it was a tall task for the Peter Siddle-led team to come on top. The Strikers have been very inconsistent in the season so far. Barring Rashid Khan, Jonathan Wells, and George Garton, the rest have looked pretty ordinary.
The match is going to be played at Bellerive Oval, Hobart. The track is a sporting wicket, with good bounce and carry. Chasing has been slightly stiffer here as the last two games on the surface has been won by teams batting first.
