Melbourne Renegades are set to cross swords with Perth Scorchers in 17th game of the Big Bash League (BBL). The Renegades are placed at bottom of the points table, winning two games and losing one in the three matches that they have played so far. The Scorchers are yet to taste defeat and have won four games on the trot. Renegades are coming on the back of two comprehensive losses against Adelaide Strikers and Brisbane Heat. On both occasions, they struggled to get going with the bat.
Barring opening batter Mackenzie Harvey, the rest of the batters failed to get going. Skipper Nic Maddinson has also looked a bit off colour. In the bowling department, only Zahir Khan has looked good, while others have been guilty of giving too many runs. So far, it has only been a tale of two-three players doing well for Renegades.
Meanwhile, Scorchers have looked in ruthless form. The batting is looking solid with Colin Munro and Mitchell Marsh contributing handsomely. The bowling has also looked lethal, with Jason Behrendorff and Andrew Tye doing splendidly well. The Scorchers are the only unbeaten team in this year’s BBL so far and look good to make in five and five.
Pitch Report
The match is going to be played at the Docklands Stadium. The surface is generally very good for batting. The new ball might do a bit but the movement fades away pretty quickly.
