Sydney Sixers will be up against Adelaide Strikers in match 16 of the Big Bash League (BBL). The Sixers are placed second on the points table, with three wins and a loss, while the Strikers are currently at the fifth position after losing two of their three games. Barring the loss against Hobart Hurricanes, the Moises Henriques-led side have looked lethal. They have dominated teams with relative ease, with batting and bowling clicking in unison.
Opening batter Josh Philippe and Henriques have done the bulk of the scoring. The former is the leading run-getter in the tournament, scoring 259 from just four games. The latter is placed with 204 runs from as many games. The duo has managed to help Sixers get to huge scores, as well as chase targets with minimum fuss. In the bowling, England all-rounder Tom Curran and Steve OKeefe have restricted opponents by chipping in with regular wickets. Curran though is ruled out of the BBL due to an injury.
Meanwhile, the Strikers have looked good in patches but have not managed to show consistency in the three matches that they have played. The team has won only one of their three games. Their second loss was by a big margin of 49 runs against Scorchers. Barring Matthew Short and Wes Agar, the rest of the players have not played to their potential. The team will be keen to deliver better performance and get back to winning ways.
Pitch Report
The match will be played at Sydney Cricket Ground. The surface has played in favour of the batters so far. Bowlers need bowl tight lines to restrict the opponents.
