Ben Stokes played a heroic knock against Australia in Test 2 of Ashes 2023. However, his efforts went in vain as the Aussies came out on the winning end by 43 runs on the final day of the second Test. Following the innings, KL Rahul, India’s star batter who is currently under rehab at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, posted an Instagram story in appreciation for the star English allrounder and skipper. He posted a photo of Ben Stokes and wrote, ‘Legend Stokesy.’

Talking of the game, the home team decided to bowl first after winning the toss at Lord’s. Australia scored 416 runs with Steve Smith leading the lines with a century. In response, England, despite batting well, conceded a lead of 91 runs as they were bowled out for 325 runs in their first innings.

Australia added another 279 runs setting England a steep target of 371 runs in the final innings of the game. However, they could only manage 327 runs before being bowled out. While the rest of the batting order disappointed, Ben Duckett with 83 and Ben Stokes with a valiant 155 led the charge but their efforts went in vain.

"All we're thinking about is winning the series 3-2," Stokes told reporters in the post-match press conference. "It's very exciting to know that the way in which we are playing our cricket actually couldn't be more perfect for the situation we find ourselves in - we have to win these three games to get this urn back," he said.

"We are a team who are obviously willing to put ourselves out there and do things against the narrative. So now these next three games are an even better opportunity for us than we've ever found ourselves in before," Stokes further added on his approach.

"What we've managed to do in the dressing room is give every individual clarity in what they want to do. You've got the backing of the whole dressing room to go out there with something in your head that you feel is the best way to take the game on at that given time," Stokes concluded.
