The Asia Cup is all set to begin on 30 August 2023 and Bangladesh is one of the teams that have already announced their squad. Mohammad Naim is a part of that squad. But, the batter hit the headlines ahead of the tournament as a video went viral where he was found walking barefoot over a bed of hot embers or stones.

It was claimed that the Bangladesh international was working with a mind trainer ahead of the mega tournament. But, it left fans surprised and they came up with their views on social media. The 23-year-old batter recently was in action in the ACC Men’s Emerging Asia Cup. In four matches, he scored 125 runs only.

So, he will look to do well in the upcoming tournament and help his country win their first Asia Cup title. Meanwhile, Shakib Al Hasan will lead the Bangla Tigers as Tamim Iqbal stepped down from the captaincy and he will not be available due to an injury. 

Regarding that, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president, Nazmul Hassan said: "Shakib Al Hasan is the captain for the Asia Cup, New Zealand series and World Cup. We will speak more to him when he returns to Bangladesh Lanka Premier League>. We have to know his long-term plan. I spoke to him on the phone yesterday. But it is better if we talk to him in person since he is busy with a franchise league currently. We will also talk about which format he will keep leading, whether it is all three formats or one or two of them.”

"There was never any confusion. I told you before. He is the obvious choice. Who else can lead? But we had to talk to him before appointing him. Nobody should think anything else. Shakib is the captain. He was always the main choice," he concluded.
