All fans were anticipating that IPL 2023 would be the last time when MS Dhoni would be wearing the yellow jersey of Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Hence, across all grounds in India, fans turned up to show their love and affection for the CSK skipper. However, he managed to guide his team to their fifth IPL title also.

Thus, MS Dhoni became the joint most successful skipper of all time in this tournament alongside the Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper, Rohit Sharma. But, after the final, during the post-match presentation, Dhoni claimed that he will try his best to play another year in IPL just for his fans. Now, reports have come out als that Dhoni is most likely to play in the tournament next year.

MS Dhoni, to play IPL 2024?

After the final, Dhoni said: “If you circumstantially see, it’s the best time to announce the retirement. The easy thing for me to say is thank you and retire. But the hard thing to do is to work hard for nine months and try to play one more IPL season. The body has to hold up. But the amount of love I have received from CSK fans, it would be a gift for them to play one more season. The way they’ve shown their love and emotion, it’s something I need to do for them. It’s the last part of my career. It started over here and the full house was chanting my name. It was my same thing in Chennai, but it will be good to come back and play whatever I can.”

After the IPL, Dhoni had successful surgery on his injured knee. He played the whole tournament with that injury. In Mumbai recently, the CSK CEO, Kasi Viswanathan met him and assessed his health. He said: “Till the final, he never complained about his knee to anybody. Though everyone knew, and you would’ve seen him struggling while running, he never complained even once. After the final, he said, ‘okay, I’ll have a surgery.’ He’s finished his surgery, he’s quite happy, he’s recovering.”
