On 18 June 2023, Siechem Madurai Panthers (SMP) took on Dindigul Dragons (DD) in the ongoing TNPL 2023. The Panthers came to this clash after losing their season opener while the Dragons won their season opener. So, SMP were looking for their first win while DD were looking to continue their winning momentum.

Speaking of the match, DD registered a seven-wicket win over SMP. But, during that clash, SMP’s Murugan Ashwin took an outrageous catch to dismiss S Arun and that video went viral. Seeing that, fans shared their views on social media. The incident took place during the fourth over of DD’s innings.

Gurjapneet Singh bowled a half-volley that S Arun tried to hit outside through the off-side. But, Ashwin covered a good amount of distance and manage a full-stretched dive to complete the catch. Speaking of the match, DD won the catch and opted to bowl first. While batting first, SMP got bundled out for 123 runs in 19.3 overs. Only Jagatheesan Koushik scored 45 runs off 34 balls, including four fours and three sixes. For DD, both Suboth Bhati and Saravana Kumar took three wickets each. Varun Chakravarthy took two wickets for 23 runs in four overs. Apart from them, both Ravichandran Ashwin and M Mathivannan took one wicket each.

In reply, DD chased down the target with ease in 14.1 overs with seven wickets in hand. Baba Indrajith scored 78* runs off 48 balls, including seven fours and four sixes. Once after losing three wickets for 32 runs, they were in a spot of bother. But, after that, Indrajith and Adithya Ganesh stitched a partnership of 92* runs for the fourth wicket to win the game. For SMP, Gurjapneet took three wickets for 18 runs in four overs. Suboth Bati won the Player of the Match award for his bowling performance. With that win, DD are in the top position now while SMP are at rock bottom with two out of two losses.
