Shaw finished unbeaten on 125 from 76 balls, including 15 fours and 7 sixes. In a 24-run 21st over, that ultimately ended the game, he pounded leg-spinner Scott Borthwick for two sixes and three fours off successive deliveries. The 23-year-old had previously defeated Somerset with a double hundred.

The 23-year-old ferocious innings of 244 from 153 broke numerous List A cricket records, including the record for the highest individual score in the 50-over competition's history. The right-hander has scored 429 runs in four games for an incredible average of 143, making him the One-Day Cup 2023's leading run-scorer right now. Compatriot Cheteshwar Pujara, who has 329 runs in five innings, is behind him.

In other matches of the tournament, another star India batter, Cheteshwar Pujara also showcased his mettle with the bat scoring a brilliant unbeaten 117 runs. The star India batter was formidable throughout his innings and scored runs all around the ground. It was because of his crucial knock that Sussex were able to chase the total.

At the County ground at Taunton, Sussex defeated Somerset by four wickets after chasing down 319 with about two overs remaining. After winning the toss and choosing to bat first, Somerset was reduced to 36/2 while Andrew Umeed struck prolifically at the other end after losing two wickets to Finn Hudson-Prentice.

At 80/3 and in some difficulties, Umeed and Curtis Campher pulled together a stand of 163, and both went on to score hundreds. After the two were dismissed, a flourish at the end was secured by cameos from Sean Dickson and Joshua Thomas, with 49 coming off the final 25 balls following Campher's departure. In response, the Sussex batting lineup played around  Pujara's unbroken 117* to comfortably reach the total with four wickets and 11 balls to spare, after losing two wickets in the opening 10 overs.
