Yuzvendra Chahal who has not been active since the end of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 will be a part of the upcoming tour of West Indies. The multi-format tour would include two Tests, three ODIs, and five T20Is. A few of these would also take place in Florida, making it a tour of the West Indies and the USA. Notably, the two-Test series would be India’s first shot at getting off the mark in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 cycle. The tour kickstarts on July 12 with the first Test scheduled to be played at Windsor Park in Dominica.

While players have been travelling to West Indies in batches, Chahal who is a part of the ODI squad has not flown west yet. Instead, he was clicked with chess star Jesse February. February posted a selfie on her Twitter and captioned it ‘Finally met Yuzi Chahal!’. Notably, Chahal has had a history with chess. He was a professional chess player and has represented India at the Youth levels making him the only human being to have represented India in both Cricket and Chess at the International levels.

Jesse February holds the rank of a Woman International Master

Speaking of Jesse February, she is a professional chess player from South Africa and holds the title of Woman International Master. She has won the South Africa Women’s Chess Championship twice while she is also a one-time winner in the African Women’s Chess Championship. Given the history of the same sport, it is likely that February was keen on meeting the Indian spinner and hence her caption reveals the same.

Fans created a flood of hilarious remarks in the comment section of February’s tweet. Most of the tweets enquired about Yuzvendra Chahal’s wife Dhanashree Verma’s whereabouts. A running joke on social media has linked Verma to Shreyas Iyer, given they both share a great friendship due to the former’s profession as a choreographer. However, fans joke that Chahal’s wife is less interested in him and more invested in her friendship with Iyer. Therefore, the photo posted by February was dubbed by fans as Chahal’s revenge on his wife.
