Ben Stokes shuts down a fan who questioned his interest in playing the IPL

England all-rounder Ben Stokes is one cricketer who doesn’t shy away from making his feelings get out in public. He is quite outspoken on and off the field. On Thursday, the star player of England shut down a fan on Twitter who suggested that he likes to turn up for the Rajasthan Royals more than England.

The 29-year-old star, until recently was with the England team and featured in all the four Tests, five T20Is and three ODIs during their tour of India. He was the only player who played all the matches, while everyone around him was rested one by one to manage their workload. After that series ended, Stokes joined the Rajasthan Royals’ preparation camp for the IPL 2021.

The incident started when Sky Cricket shared a small clip from an interview with Stokes. In the video, the all-rounder was talking about the experience with the Royals franchise and how their squad is shaping up for the upcoming tournament. In the reply to the tweet posted by Sky Cricket, a fan said, “Chasing a pound note again, once back in an England shirt will be too tired to bowl,” making a disgraceful comment about the cricketer.

Stokes was quick to respond to this tweet, questioning the fan back. The all rounder said, “When have I ever been to tired to bowl in a England shirt pal???” The tweet by the all-rounder went viral after he posted it.

Considering how much Stokes has been doing for the England team in recent times, the words by the fan must have hurt Stokes. Even during the India-England series, every time the team needed someone to fill in, Stokes always put up his hand and bowled. This year, he is expected to have a long IPL season, after missing most of the matches in the 2020 edition due to personal reasons and injuries.
