According to a Rediffusion article, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has found that the annual cricket spectacle known as the Indian Premier League (IPL) is a golden egg-laying goose, contributing more than 59% of its revenue in FY24.

The Board can go even farther, according to experts, by opening branches outside of India. He noted that the BCCI might promote cricket in other nations, which would boost earnings. The best cricket players from India and around the world compete in the IPL, an annual franchise-based T20 competition. The tournament, which was established in 2007, has up to ten teams.

Along with the IPL, which brought in ₹5,761 crore, and expanding revenue streams like the WPL and global rights, the BCCI "has built a billion-rupee engine powered by fan love, smart deals, and cricketing excellence," according to branding and ad giant Rediffusion.

The largest cricket organisation in the world, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), recently released their 2023–24 balance statement, which showed revenue of ₹9741.71 crore. That's a lot more than the ₹6558.80 crore from the year before, mostly because of the 2023–2027 IPL media rights agreement.

Compared to the previous five-year cycle, the current Indian Premier League (IPL) media rights valuation of ₹48,390 crore is three times higher. The BCCI's largest attraction is still the two-month-long IPL, which generates almost 60% of its yearly revenue (₹5,761 crore). The next largest source of income is the payout of 1042.35 crore, or almost 10% of total revenue, from the International Cricket Council (ICC).

In terms of the international cricket scene, the BCCI is in a fantastic position because of its increasing earnings. India's significance to international cricket has even been reaffirmed by the International Cricket Council (ICC). "The majority of ICC's funding comes from BCCI. According to Ajimon Francis, Managing Director at Brand Finance India, "ICC is not generating revenue as it ought to."
