Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha has landed in a new controversy after his latest post-match press conference comments following the Asia Cup 2025 final against India on Sunday, September 28, in Dubai.
Speaking in the post-match press conference, Salman stated that he and his team will donate the match fee from the final to their civilians and children who were affected by India’s Operation Sindoor.
"We, as a team, the whole team, we are donating our match fees to our civilians and our children who were affected in the Indian attack that happened (Operation Sindoor). We are all donating this to them," Agha said at the end of his press conference.
According to the reports published on Jagran.com, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is all set to lodge an official complaint against Salman Ali Agha for his comment, which is not only controversial but also political.
Notably, Pakistan skipper’s comment has India’s name in it, and it might grab the international attention, according to the report, adding that it breaks the International Cricket Council (ICC) code of conduct.
In the press conference, Pakistan captain Salman Agha also justified the Asian Cricket Council and Pakistan Cricket Board chairman, Mohsin Naqvi's act of taking away the trophy after India refused to collect it from him.
"If you don't accept the trophy from the ACC president, how will you get it?" Agha said in the post-match press conference.
Following the five-wicket win against Pakistan, the Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav donated his match fee from the tournament, which would be around INR 28 Lakh in total, to the Indian armed forces and the families of the victims who suffered in the Pahalgam attack.
"I have decided to donate my match fees from this tournament to support our Armed Forces and the families of the victims who suffered from the Pahalgam terror attack. You always remain in my thoughts. Jai Hind," SKY posted on his X handle.
