A crucial choice concerning Team India has been made by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in advance of the Asia Cup 2025 competition. Five players would not go with the team, according to a decision made by the Indian Cricket Board.

The BCCI's top selector, Ajit Agarkar, just revealed the 15-man roster for the 2025 Asia Cup. In addition, he announced five backup players for the competition, which include Prasidh Krishna and Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Jaiswal, Prasidh, Sundar, Parag, and Jurel will not be travelling with the main team for the continental event, which begins on September 9, according to a report by news agency PTI. "No, the standby players will not be travelling with the main squad to Dubai," PTI quoted a BCCI source as saying.

'Obviously, a few will travel from Mumbai but to ask some of the others to first come to Mumbai and then fly to Dubai doesn't make sense. In any case, Dubai is a short-duration flight compared to other international flights.'

In contrast to previous occasions when the squad would first gather in Mumbai before departing, players will arrive in Dubai in a staggered fashion from their separate places, deviating from the custom that is typically followed. The decision was made with the players' convenience of travel and logistics in mind.

On September 10, the Suryakumar Yadav-led team will play the United Arab Emirates in Group A to begin their Asia Cup campaign. Games against Oman and Pakistan are scheduled for September 14 and 19, respectively. Earlier this month, the BCCI announced that Shubman Gill will be the team's vice-captain and named a formidable 15-man roster.

Shubman Gill, Abhishek Sharma, and Sanju Samson are already available to open the innings for India. Yashasvi Jaiswal will only be required if one of them is injured. Prasidh might also show up if something were to happen to Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, or Harshit Rana.
