“ICC is going to take decisive action for sure” - BCCI opens up on Pakistan boycotting India fixture in T20 WC

On Thursday, February 5, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) slammed the Pakistan government’s decision to boycott their clash against the Indian team in the forthcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2026, scheduled for Sunday, February 15, in Colombo.

Speaking to the media during the WPL 2026 final in Vadodara, the BCCI Joint Secretary, Prabhtej Singh Bhatia, termed the Pakistan government’s decision ‘very wrong’ and expressed confidence that the apex body would take strict action on the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

"This is against the sportsmanship of any sport. This is a very wrong decision by Pakistan. I am sure the ICC will take very strict action, and we will wait for the ICC's decision. We can't discuss that here, but ICC is going to take decisive action for sure,” Bhatia said.

During the captains' meeting in Mumbai on Thursday, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav assured that his team is fully prepared for the much-awaited clash against arch-rivals Pakistan in Colombo.

“Mindset is clear… humne mana nahi kiya khelne kie liye. Udhar se mana kiya hai. ICC ne fixture diya hai. Humari flight book hai Colombo ki, hum to jaa rahe hai. Baaki dekh lege (our mindset is clear; we didn’t say no to play, they did. ICC has announced the fixtures, our flight is booked, and we are going to Colombo. The rest we will see when we get there),” Suryakumar said during the captain’s day in Mumbai.

India will open their campaign against the USA on February 7, followed by a group-stage match against Namibia on February 12. Group A also has other teams, namely the Netherlands, alongside Pakistan.
