BCCI announces India’s squad for Champions Trophy 2025

After a long wait, Indian selector Ajit Agarkar and captain Rohit Sharma have announced the Indian squad for Champions Trophy 2025, scheduled to start from February 19 to March 9 in Pakistan and UAE.

While Rohit continues to lead the squad, Shubman Gill has been named as his deputy. Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, and Shreyas Iyer are other batting options while KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant are keepers in the squad.

Moving into the all-rounders' category, Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja take up the duties. Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, and Kuldeep Yadav are part of the spin attack. Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Arshdeep Singh will form the pace battery.

The tournament is all set to be hosted by Pakistan, while India’s matches will be hosted in the UAE. Rawalpindi, Karachi, and Lahore will host the Champions Trophy 2025 games in Pakistan, while Dubai will host the Indian matches.

If India makes it to the semi-finals or finals, one of the semi-finals and the final will be played in Dubai; otherwise, Karachi will host one semi-final and Lahore will host the final of the competition. 

A total of eight teams are part of the tournament, including hosts Pakistan, and they have been divided into two groups. Group A has India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and New Zealand while Group B has Australia, England, Afghanistan, and South Africa.

Furthermore, India will play three ODI matches ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. They will play England at home in three ODIs and will then move ahead to the ICC event. Harshit Rana is included as stand-by for Bumrah for the England ODI series.
