As a vital prelude to the Women's ODI World Cup, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced Thursday that the Australian women's team will travel to India for a three-match ODI series in September.
The series' opening One-Day International (ODI) is scheduled for September 14; the second and third matches will take place on September 17 and 20, respectively. All three of the series' games will be held at Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium.
For the first time since a quadrangular series between Australia, New Zealand, England, and India in March 2007, Chepauk will host a Women's ODI. Last year, the location played host to a one-time Test match between South Africa and India as well as a three-match T20I series.
In the 50-over format, India has had a successful year thus far. The Women in Blue won the tri-series in Sri Lanka by defeating the hosts in the final after defeating Ireland at home in January. Pratika Rawal is the fastest woman to reach 500 ODI runs, demonstrating her exceptional performance.
The trip will be an important prelude to the 2025 ICC Women's Cricket World Cup. This series will serve as an important practice for both Australia and India as the Women's ODI World Cup approaches. Australia, the current world champions, bring depth and firepower. However, India has demonstrated a great deal of tenacity in recent months under the experienced guidance of Harmanpreet Kaur.
In June and July, Harmanpreet Kaur's side will travel to England to play three ODIs and five T20Is. After being chosen for the T20I squad, Shafali Verma rejoins the national team, and Sneh Rana makes her T20I comeback for the first time in two years after winning Player of the Series in Sri Lanka.
Here's the schedule for India Women's home ODI series against Australia
