BBL winners list from 2011 to 2025 (Updated List)

The 14th edition of the Big Bash League (BBL) concluded with the Hobart Hurricanes claiming their maiden title after thrashing the Sydney Thunder by seven wickets in the final. Mitchell Owen’s record-breaking century (108 off 42 balls, including six fours and 11 sixes) powered the Hurricanes to chase down a target of 183 runs in just 14.1 overs.

Owen’s knock marked the joint-fastest century in BBL history. Over the years, the BBL has witnessed several teams lifting the prestigious trophy. Known as one of the most popular franchise T20 leagues in the world, the BBL attracts talented players from across the globe every season.

The inaugural BBL season in 2011/12 was won by the Sydney Sixers, followed by the Brisbane Heat in the 2012/13 season. Perth Scorchers opened their account in 2013/14 and successfully defended their title the next year. The Sydney Thunder, who lost the latest final, claimed their maiden title in 2015/16. 

The Scorchers then roared back to win their third title in 2016/17, with the Adelaide Strikers securing their first championship in 2017/18. In the 2018/19 season, the Melbourne Renegades clinched their first title. However, the Sixers dominated the next two seasons, winning back-to-back titles in 2019/20 and 2020/21.

The Scorchers ended the Sixers' streak, replicating their feat by winning two consecutive titles in the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons. Brisbane Heat followed up with their second title in the 2023/24 season.

The Perth Scorchers remain the most successful team in BBL history with five titles. Meanwhile, after the Hurricanes’ recent triumph, the Melbourne Stars are now the only team without a single BBL title.
