BBL 2021: Dan Christian takes a stunner to dismiss Matthew Short: Watch

Sydney Sixers all-rounder Daniel Christian was absolutely sensational against the Adelaide Strikers on Tuesday. The day belonged to him as an all-round performance by the big unit saw his team beat the Siddle-led side by four wickets.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, the Strikers came out all guns blazing, especially their opener Matthew Short. However, on the final delivery of the second over, he mistimed a shot ball from Abbot towards point.

Christian, who was fielding there, made no mistake and took an acrobatic catch, which ended the 26-year-old's stay at the crease. What turned out to be an eight-ball 16, could have been much more if not the athletic efforts by the 38-year-old had curtailed his inning. Post the wicket of the opener, none of the Strikers' batters could take the onus on themselves to score big. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

However, this wasn't it as the Victorian bowled a sensational spell as well. In the three over in which he bowled, he took three wickets and gave just eight runs. In this innings, he bowled at an economy rate of just 2.7

He and Abbot took six wickets collectively, and that choked the momentum out of the opposition's innings. Thus, the Strikers ended up scoring a sub-par total of 147. As they had to chase just 148 to win, the Henriques-led side played more freely. However, the likes of Rashid Khan and Fawad Ahmed did try their best to contain them.

Yet, useful cameos from several batters saw them chase the total with 6 deliveries to spare. Despite Henriques stellar show, Abbott went on to win the Player of the Match award for his all-round performance. Thus, so far in this edition of the league, the defending champions have won four out of their five games.
