Bangladesh head coach Phil Simmons has stated that his team has the capability to defeat Team India, led by Suryakumar Yadav, when the two sides face each other on Wednesday, September 24, in Dubai.

While India defeated Pakistan by six wickets in their first Super Four clash, Bangladesh also secured a four-wicket win over Sri Lanka in their first Super Four clash to start things on a successful note.

“Every team has the ability to beat India. The game is played on the day. It’s not what India has done before. It’s what happens on Wednesday. It’s what happens during that three and a half hour period. We will try to play as best as we can and hope to find chinks in India’s armoury. That’s the way we win games,” Phil Simmons told reporters in the pre-match press conference.

Furthermore, Simmons also reckoned that the games involving Team India will offer an electric atmosphere. That said, he added that his team would enjoy the moment and the game on Wednesday, when they clash against Suryakumar’s side.

“Every game, especially games involving India, has hype because they’re the number one T20 team in the world. There must be a hype. We’re just going to ride on the hype. We’re going to enjoy the moment and enjoy the game,” he said.

Additionally, Simmons has also shared his opinion on his side playing two T20Is in consecutive days, in Dubai. While they will take on India on Wednesday, later, they will lock horns with Pakistan on Thursday, September 25, at the same venue.

“It is extremely difficult to play back-to-back T20 matches, back-to-back ODIs. So it’s not a nice thing but again we are prepared, we have trained really hard. I think the guys are fit enough to handle the back-to-back game. But it is not a fair thing for any team to have to play back-to-back T20s. It’s a lot more difficult than people seem to think,” he concluded.
