The Mumbai Cricket Association official has confirmed that the officials at the association haven’t received any official communication from the former Indian captain, Rohit Sharma, on his participation in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 campaign.

Notably, there have been multiple reports emerging that Rohit has decided to take part in the premier domestic one-day tournament to keep himself fit and stay eligible for the national team selection. However, the MCA official’s new statement has turned out to be a new twist in the whole episode.
It’s worth noting that the VHT campaign will take place across Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Jaipur, and Bengaluru from December 25 to January 18, with the knockout matches scheduled at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.
“There has been no communication as far as I am aware,” the official stated as quoted by the news agency PTI.
Moreover, there is no communication from the Indian talismanic batter Virat Kohli as well on his comeback to domestic cricket. Interestingly, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly informed the veteran batting duo that they would need to compete in domestic tournaments to be eligible for the national team selection.
While the duo retired from the shortest format of the game after the end of the T20 World Cup in 2024, they later bid adieu to the longest format of the game ahead of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy earlier this year.
For the unversed, the Hitman was in exceptional form during India’s recent ODI series against Australia, scoring an unbeaten 121 in the third ODI after a 73-run knock in the second match. He was adjudged the Player of the Series.
