‘Babar ka Paisa vasool performance’ - Babar Azam smashes 101* against New Zealand in Pakistan's 38-run win in 2nd T20I

On 15 April 2023, Pakistan took on New Zealand in the second game of the ongoing five-match T20I series in Pakistan. After winning the series opener, Babar Azam and his men were looking for another win. While the Kiwis were looking for a comeback. In the first game, Babar failed cheaply as he scored nine runs off seven balls.

So, all eyes were on him once again in this game. Before this series, during the recent PSL, the former Kiwi player, Simon Doull criticised Babar a lot for his strike rate during T20 innings. Not only him but also fans have been criticising him of the late for his strike. So, fans were really eager to see how Babar Azam responds in this ongoing series.

Babar Azam scored 101* runs off 58 balls against New Zealand in the second T20I

Speaking of the match, Babar Azam won the toss and opted to bat first. Both Babar and Mohammad Rizwan gave a solid start as they scored 99 runs for the first wicket in 10.4 overs. Rizwan scored 50 runs off 34 balls, including six fours and one six. But, the Pakistan skipper showed his class and smashed his third T20I ton. He scored 101* runs off 58 balls, including 11 fours and three sixes. Thus, the Men in Green scored 192 runs for four wickets in 20 overs. In reply, the Kiwis scored 154 runs for seven wickets in 20 overs. Thus, Pakistan won the game by 38 runs.

During the post-match presentation, Babar Azam said: "Definitely, I am very happy to perform in this match. Early on, there was help for the fast bowlers and there was seam movement but I and Rizwan built a partnership, and after Rizwan got out then I and Iftikhar continued to consolidate. I try to stay till the end and play all overs and utilized the last few overs and we managed to get a good total".
