Team India are gearing up for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023 as they will begin the tournament on 2 September against Pakistan. However, India’s bowlers need to play a crucial role if they look to win the tournament. Jasprit Bumrah is currently leading the side in Ireland in the ongoing three-match T20I series after making a comeback from his back injury.

Along with him, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, and Mohammed Siraj have also managed a place in the squad. Now, ahead of the tournament, the former Team India skipper and the former president of the Indian Cricket Board, Sourav Ganguly claimed that the trio of Bumrah, Siraj, and Shami are a force to reckon with.

These three pacers are most likely to be preferred more in the final playing XI in this upcoming tournament and the ODI World Cup. While speaking to Star Sports, Ganguly said: “It’s a very strong team. Bumrah is back, which makes the team even stronger. The bowling attack is very good – Shami, Bumrah, Siraj. You can’t get a better fast bowling attack. And the spin, Jadeja, the wrist spinner. Top batters. India is a fantastic side, who just have to turn up and play good, determined cricket during the Asia Cup and the World Cup.”

Altogether, these three players have experience playing 186 ODIs between them. He also opened up on the number four conundrum for Team India. Ganguly said: “One batting slot does not make much of a difference. Number 4 is just a number. See, when you have too many homes to stay, you can’t decide which one is more comfortable for you. If you have one, you know that’s the place I can stay. So, I think number 4 is what Rahul and the selectors and Rohit need to do; decide that this is my number 4 and I will continue with him till the World Cup. One batting slot does not make much of a difference.”
