On August 10, Australia will play South Africa in a white-ball series to kick off their seldom-winter home season. The Northern Territory of Australia will host three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) and three One Day Internationals (ODIs) as part of the series.

The West Indies were thrashed 5–0 by the hosts going into the series. Following the conclusion of South Africa's trip, Australia will host India for another white-ball series before going to New Zealand for a three-match Twenty20 International series.
The contest will mark the hosts' first match in the Northern Territory in 17 years and allows both sides to further their preparation for next year's T20 World Cup, to be held in India and Sri Lanka from February.
