The Aussie pacer sustained an Achilles problem that ruled him out of both the Test and ODI series in India. Now, he will also be going to miss the initial matches of the Indian T20 League 2023. Hence, the Bangalore fans were not happy and they came up to share their views on the social media platform.

“I find it still plays second fiddle to Test cricket.” - Josh Hazlewood

In February 2023, Hazlewood opened up about his priority and claimed that he would like to return to action through the Indian T20 League. He said: "As fun as T20 is and as lucrative as it is, I find it still plays second fiddle to Test cricket. This series, Ashes series, home summers are what you play cricket for. I don't think that will ever change. I've chatted with guys at Cricket Australia, Cricket NSW … to get a plan together (to manage his body).”

“It's probably about short-term loss versus long-term gain a lot of the time. You've got a 20-20 World Cup or an Indian T20 League or a one-day series, it's about still ticking those boxes off the field to be ready to go for a Test series. It might hurt that particular series, or you might not be 100 percent but in the long term, you might be better placed for an Ashes or a home Test summer. It's just about summing up what's right and how much you can do," Josh Hazlewood concluded. In the 2022 mega auction, the Bangalore franchise bought Hazlewood for INR 7.75 crore. In that season, he took 20 wickets in 12 matches, at an economy of 8.11.
