India suffered a heavy defeat in the World Test Championship (WTC) final by 209 runs against Australia at the Oval. Under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy, the Men in Blue suffered a defeat in the 20-20 World Cup 2022. Then, now, in another major final, he failed to guide the team to glory. When Rohit got appointed as the skipper of India, fans were expecting him to win the major titles that they won last in 2013.

But, in two attempts, he has failed and even in the Asia Cup 2022, India failed to qualify for the final. However, now, India will go West Indies for a full-fledged tour. Now, reports have come out that Rohit will continue his captaincy in the Test series in West Indies. But, after that, he will sit with the Indian Cricket Board officials to discuss his future as the skipper in the longest format of the game.

“We'll keep our heads high and fight for the next championship as well." - Rohit Sharma

Under Rohit Sharma’s guidance, India have been a terrific team in the bilateral series. But, in the major tournament, he has failed to show the magic that fans have witnessed in the IPL over the years as the Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper. MI are the joint-most successful team in history with five titles. But, after the loss at the Oval, Rohit Sharma pointed out the mistakes and claimed to make a stronger comeback in the next WTC cycle.

During the post-match ceremony, Rohit said: "It was a tough one. We started well winning the toss and putting them into bat in those conditions. We bowled pretty well in the first session and then we let ourselves down a little bit with how we bowled. But again, credit to the Australian batters, in particular, Travis Head came in and played really well. We've worked really hard for four years to make two finals. It's disappointment for us. We would like to go one better. But you cannot take anything away from what we've done in the two years. It's a great effort. A lot of players took part in those series. We'll keep our heads high and fight for the next championship as well."
