Asia Cup 2025: Who won yesterday's game between UAE vs Oman, Match 7?

The seventh match of the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 went in favour of the UAE as they defeated Oman by 42 runs in Abu Dhabi. After being asked to bat first, the UAE posted 172/5 in 20 overs, courtesy of skipper Muhammad Waseem’s 69 runs off 54 and Alishan Sharafu’s 51 off 38. They both put up an 88-run opening partnership and laid the foundation for the following batters.

Then, Muhammad Zohaib added 21 off 13 while Harshit Kaushik scored a quickfire unbeaten 19 runs off eight balls, striking at 237.50. For Oman, Jiten Ramanandi picked up two wickets along with one wicket apiece from Hassnain Shah and Samay Shrivastava.       

Let’s take a look at Oman’s Chase

In reply, Oman batters failed to build partnerships and at one stage, they were reduced to 50/5 in 6.5 overs. Skipper Jatinder Singh scored 20 off 10 while opening, but other top-order batters failed to contribute. 

In the lower order, some contributions came from Aryan Bisht (24 off 32), Vinayak Shukla (20 off 17), Ramanandi (13 off nine), and Shakeel Ahmed (unbeaten 14 off 10 balls). Ultimately, they were bundled out for 130 in 18.4 overs.

For the UAE, Junaid Siddique starred with the ball as he picked up four wickets. Haider Ali and Muhammad Jawadullah bagged two wickets each, along with one wicket from Muhammad Rohid.

It was UAE’s first win of the tournament and now they sit in the third spot in Group A with two points in two games along with a net run rate of -2.030. Sharafu was named the Player of the Match for his fifty, and this win also kept them alive in the race for the ‘Super 4’ stage. Their next match is against Pakistan on September 17 in Dubai.
