After winning the toss, captain Salman Ali Agha chose to bat first. The start, however, was shaky as Saim Ayub fell for a golden duck. But then, Sahibzada Farhan and Haris steadied the innings with a crucial 85-run stand for the second wicket. Farhan scored 29 off 29 balls, while Haris top-scored with a brilliant 66 off 43 deliveries.

Later, cameos from Fakhar Zaman (unbeaten 23 off 16) and Mohammad Nawaz (19 off 10) pushed Pakistan to 160/7 in their 20 overs. For Oman, Aamir Kaleem and Shah Faisal both impressed with three wickets each, while Mohammad Nadeem picked up one.

Let’s take a look at Oman’s Chase

Chasing 161, Oman never looked in control. Their batting lineup struggled badly and eventually folded for just 67 runs in 16.4 overs. Only Hammad Mirza showed some fight with 27 off 23 balls. Kaleem (13 off 11) and Shakeel Ahmed (10 off 23) were the only others to reach double figures.

Pakistan’s bowlers shared the spoils. Faheem Ashraf, Saim Ayub, and Sufiyan Muqeem picked up two wickets each. Shaheen Shah Afridi, Abrar Ahmed, and Mohammad Nawaz added one apiece as Oman’s chase ended in a collapse.

With this massive win, Pakistan moved to second place in Group A with two points and a healthy net run rate of +4.650. Their next challenge will be the high-voltage clash against India on September 14. India are also coming after an emphatic win over the UAE in their tournament opener. Oman, meanwhile, will face the UAE on September 15.
