India continued their winning run in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025, but Pakistan put up a spirited fight, especially with the bat. The win seemed inevitable for India, even though Pakistan managed to chip in a few wickets towards the latter half of the chase, and India won comfortably by six wickets to start their Super Fours journey.
After winning the toss in Dubai, India skipper Suryakumar Yadav chose to bowl first. The start wasn’t ideal as Fakhar Zaman started off aggressively and smashed some boundaries. However, Hardik immediately took the responsibility and got him out. The second wicket partnership was the most crucial one for Pakistan as Ayub and Farhan kept the scoreboard ticking and found regular boundaries.
Indian spinners and Shivam Dube brought India back in the game with their tight lines in the middle overs and fetched a couple of wickets. It was a rare off game for Jasprit Bumrah, who was smacked for 45 runs without a wicket. As a result, Pakistan got off to a decent total on the board and gave India a target of 172.
Let’s take a look at India’s Chase
India went all guns blazing right from the first ball in the chase as Abhishek hit Shaheen for a first-ball six. It was an indication of the storm to come, and the way the pair of Abhishek and Shubhman batted, they made the game a one-sided affair.
Gill initially led the attack, and then Sharma started the carnage with towering sixes and elegant boundaries. Abhishek scored his third fifty in T20Is and got out to a score of 74. Gill played extremely well too and was dismissed for 47.
In a rather quick time, Pakistan did pull back a little with quick wickets after the drinks break. However, India never looked out of control of the chase. Tilak Varma, who came to bat at four, made an important 30 off 19 balls and got India home with seven balls to spare.
Abhishek Sharma was awarded Player of the Match for his brilliant knock.
