Bangladesh failed to win back-to-back matches in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 as Sri Lanka defeated them by six wickets in Abu Dhabi. It was a winning start to the tournament for Sri Lanka as they chased down the 140-run target with ease.
After winning the toss, Sri Lanka skipper Charith Asalanka decided to bowl first, and it was a fantastic start for them. They bowled two maiden overs and picked up two wickets. After that, Bangladesh somehow steadied their innings and ultimately, in 20 overs, they scored 139/5.
Skipper Litton Das scored 28 off 26. But it was the unbeaten 86-run partnership for the fifth wicket between Jaker Ali and Shamim Hossain that took them from 53/5 to 139/5. Hossain scored an unbeaten 42 off 34 while Ali remained not out on 41 off 34 balls.
For Sri Lanka, Wanindu Hasaranga bagged two wickets along with one each from Nuwan Thushara and Dushmantha Chameera.
