Bangladesh began their Asia Cup 2025 campaign on a winning note, defeating Hong Kong by seven wickets in Abu Dhabi. They comfortably chased down the 144-run target with seven wickets and 14 balls to spare. Bangladesh skipper Litton Das led from the front while chasing, scoring 59 off 39 balls, and was adjudged Player of the Match.

After winning the toss, Hong Kong were asked to bat first. Both Anshy Rath and Babar Hayat got out early, but for the third wicket, Zeeshan Ali and Nizakat Khan added 41 runs. Ali scored 30 off 34, but after his dismissal, Nizakat and skipper Yasim Murtaza added 46 runs.
Eventually, Nizakat scored 42 off 40, while Murtaza struck 28 off 19 at a strike rate of 147.36 as Hong Kong posted 143/7 in 20 overs. For Bangladesh, Taskin Ahmed, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, and Rishad Hossain bagged two wickets each.

In reply, Bangladesh’s both openers—Tanzid Hasan (14 off 18) and Pervaiz Hossain Emon (19 off 14)—got starts but failed to convert them into big scores. At number three, skipper Litton Das showcased his power with a 59 off 39 at a strike rate of 151.28. His 95-run partnership with Towhid Hridoy almost sealed the win for Bangladesh.
Ultimately, Hridoy remained unbeaten on 35 as they chased down the total in 17.4 overs. For Hong Kong, Ateeq Iqbal shone with the ball with two wickets while Ayush Shukla picked one.
With this win, Bangladesh are now in the second spot in Group B with two points and a net run rate of +1.001. Their next clash is against Sri Lanka on September 13, while Hong Kong will also face Sri Lanka in their next match on September 15.
