Asia Cup 2025: Virender Sehwag picks three game-changers for Team India

Former Indian opening batter Virender Sehwag has picked the opener Abhishek Sharma, pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, and in-form spinner Varun Chakravarthy as three main game-changers for Team India in the forthcoming Asia Cup 2025 campaign.

Speaking exclusively to Sony Sports, Sehwag has stated that the aforementioned trio can turn the game upside down. Notably, the trio has been in exceptional form of late and can win the games for India single-handedly.

"I think Abhishek Sharma can be a game-changer. Bumrah is always a game-changer. Varun Chakravarthy, with his mystery bowling, was very effective in the Champions Trophy and in the T20 format as well. So, these are some game changers for India who can win matches on their own," Sehwag said on Sony Sports.

It’s worth noting that Bumrah’s last T20I came in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 final against South Africa, as he got injured later, and since then, he has been managing his workload by playing limited games.

On the other hand, the ICC No.1-ranked T20I batter Abhishek Sharma has been in good form. In 16 T20I innings, Sharma has accumulated 535 runs at an average of 33.43 and an exceptional strike rate of 193.84 with two centuries and as many half-centuries

Furthermore, Varun Chakravarthy has been in exceptional form. In the series against Bangladesh, he was the leading wicket-taker and later stunned England in January 2025, winning the Player of the Series award. In 18 T20Is, Varun has pocketed 33 wickets at an economy rate of 7.02.
