Asia Cup 2025: Predicting UAE playing XI vs Oman, Match 7

The UAE suffered a humiliating nine-wicket loss against Team India in their Asia Cup 2025 opener. In Dubai conditions, the UAE were expected to put up a better show than they did against the Men in Blue. After being asked to bat first, they got bundled out for just 57 runs in 13.1 overs. Kuldeep Yadav’s four-wicket haul and Shivam Dube’s three wickets rattled them and caused a complete batting collapse.

Even with the ball, they failed to make any mark as India chased down the target in just 4.3 overs. After this loss, the UAE are now in the fourth spot with a net run rate of -10.483. Their next match is against Oman on September 15 in Abu Dhabi, where Muhammad Waseem and his men will look for their first win of the tournament.

Despite the loss against India, there were a few positives to take away. First, both of their openers, Alishan Sharafu and Waseem, got starts against India’s top-quality bowling. In 3.4 overs, they added 26 runs and showed attacking intent in the powerplay overs to take on the Indian bowlers. With the ball, Junaid Siddique claimed the only wicket.

Hence, despite players failing in just one match, and that too against a relatively stronger team like India, the UAE must back their squad and likely go with an unchanged playing XI against Oman.

After the loss against India, during the post-match presentation, Waseem also vowed to make a comeback by learning from the mistakes they made in Dubai. “As a team, we have to come back stronger and we have to learn from these mistakes, and hopefully we can come back stronger,” he said.

Speaking of the head-to-head record between these teams in T20Is, in nine matches so far, the UAE have won five times while Oman have won on four occasions. Hence, another thrilling battle awaits fans in Abu Dhabi.
