With the bat, opener Pathum Nissanka provided the perfect start with a quickfire 50 off 34 balls at a strike rate of 147.05. At number three, Kamil Mishara grabbed the headlines with an unbeaten 46 from 32 deliveries, guiding Sri Lanka to victory. Mishara also bagged the Player of the Match award.

This win placed Sri Lanka in the second spot in Group B with a strong net run rate of +2.595. Their next challenge will be against Hong Kong on September 15 in Dubai.

Talking about their playing XI, no major changes are expected as the team secured a convincing win against Bangladesh. Key performers like Nissanka, Mishara, and Hasaranga are once again expected to shine against a relatively weaker opponent. 

However, Sri Lanka will also hope to see some contributions from experienced names such as Kusal Perera, captain Charith Asalanka, Kamindu Mendis, and Dasun Shanaka. If these players can spend some valuable time in the middle, it will serve as a confidence booster before the more competitive ‘Super 4’ stage. A win in this game will guarantee them a place in the next stage of the tournament. 

In Dubai conditions, spinners like Hasaranga and Mendis could play a big role. Hasaranga’s googlies will be a stern challenge for Hong Kong batters to pick, especially in the middle overs. All eyes will be on their approach against Hong Kong’s batting unit, as Sri Lanka looks to continue their winning momentum in the tournament.
