Asia Cup 2025: Predicting Pakistan's playing XI vs India, Super Fours, Match 2

Pakistan have endured a mixed campaign so far in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025. They qualified from Group A alongside arch-rivals India. But in their group clash against India, they were thrashed and beaten comprehensively.

They managed a win over Oman, and against the UAE, they were in trouble at one stage before their bowlers put up a strong effort to seal victory. Now, in the ‘Super 4’ stage, the Men in Green have a chance for redemption when they face the Men in Blue in Dubai on September 21.

Pakistan should field their best possible playing XI, but they will need a significantly better performance than what they produced in the earlier clash with India.

It has been a nightmare tournament with the bat for Saim Ayub. Hardik Pandya dismissed him for a golden duck in their last meeting. However, with the ball, Ayub has been one of Pakistan’s top performers. He even took all three wickets of India in the last game. Now, against India, he will be eager to finally open his account with the bat.

Sahibzada Farhan scored 44 off 40 against India but struggled badly against the spinners and was heavily criticised for his strike rate. The middle-order — Fakhar Zaman, captain Salman Agha, Hasan Nawaz, and wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Haris — also faltered. The Indian spinners completely dismantled Pakistan’s batting line-up.

Faheem Ashraf failed to make an impact as an all-rounder, while Shaheen Shah Afridi contributed some crucial late runs to help Pakistan cross the 120-run mark. But with the ball, their prime pacer struggled, which remains a concern heading into this big clash once again.

After the win over the UAE, skipper Salman Ali Agha remained confident about their chances.
“We're ready for any challenge and if we keep playing the way we have over the last four months, we'll be good against any side,” he said at the post-match presentation.
