Asia Cup 2025: Predicting India's playing XI vs Pakistan, Super Fours, Match 2

The stage is set in Dubai as India will take on arch-rivals Pakistan in the ‘Super 4’ stage of the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 on September 21. Both teams qualified from Group A. Earlier, in their group clash, the Men in Blue registered a comfortable seven-wicket victory over the Men in Green.

Indian fans will hope for another win over Salman Ali Agha and his men, while for Pakistan, this will be a chance at redemption.

For India, a strong playing XI is expected. The openers will be the in-form Abhishek Sharma and vice-captain Shubman Gill. Abhishek has impressed with his aggressive starts in the tournament. 

His brisk starts have set the tone for the team, be it while chasing or setting up a total in the first innings. Gill, however, is yet to find form, especially after his rare failure against Oman in the last game.

Sanju Samson comes in with confidence after his fifty against Oman. In the middle order, captain Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma will be followed by all-rounders Shivam Dube, Hardik Pandya, and Axar Patel.

Alongside Axar, the spin trio of Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakravarthy will feature. They played a massive role in the previous match against Pakistan, where they combined to take six wickets for 60 runs in 12 overs, dismantling the batting line-up. 

Kuldeep was named Player of the Match for his three wickets for just 18 runs. Hence, again in the Dubai conditions, these spinners are expected to play a huge role for India.

With the ball, Hardik Pandya will be supported by Jasprit Bumrah, who returns after being rested against Oman. Arshdeep Singh, who played in that game, is likely to make way.

India have been unbeaten so far in the competition, winning all three of their group matches against the UAE, Pakistan, and Oman. Now, Suryakumar and his men will look to begin the ‘Super 4’ stage with another victory — and that too against Pakistan.
