In the latest turn of events, a total of 18 out of 19 matches in the forthcoming Asia Cup will start half an hour later than actually scheduled as the UAE is having a heat wave at the moment, as announced by the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) on Saturday, August 30.

Notably, the matches were supposed to begin at 7.30 PM IST. However, the new schedule will feature the matches from 8.00 PM IST, including all of India’s matches. However, the UAE vs Oman game is set to start at 5.30 PM IST in Abu Dhabi.

According to the report published on The Indian Express, the temperatures have surged to record highs at the start of August and some parts of the country has seen it touching 47 degrees celsius. The temperature surge followed the UAE’s hottest April and May on record, National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) had said.

“The start time for 18 out of the 19 DP World Asia Cup 2025 matches has been updated. These matches will now begin at 6:30pm local time (Gulf Standard Time). The Monday, 15 September match between UAE and Oman will start at 4:00pm local time at the Zayed Cricket Stadium, Abu Dhabi – the only day game of the tournament,” the ECB said in a statement on its website.

In the forthcoming eight-team showpiece event, India, Pakistan, UAE, and Oman are part of Group A, while Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Hong Kong are part of Group B. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the Super Four stage.
