Senior Indian batter KL Rahul has recently made his comeback to international cricket after a long break due to an injury. He sustained the injury just after the conclusion of the 2022 edition of the Indian T20 League. He was not a part of the Indian team from the five-match T20I series against South Africa to the five-match T20I series against West Indies that concluded last month.
He made his comeback for India during the three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe. The 30-year-old batter deliver up to the expectations with the bat in the last five international matches including three ODIs of the Zimbabwe series and two T20Is played so far in the ongoing Asia Cup 2022. He could cross the mark of 30 runs only on two occasions in these five matches.
Considering his lean patch, the Indian team management might think to replace him in the super four round of the Asia Cup 2022. So, here we’ll have a look at three batters who might replace him in the upcoming stage of the ongoing continental tournament.
Deepak Hooda
The 27-year-old brilliant batter from Haryana made his first international appearance in T20Is for India in February earlier this year. He has amazed everyone with his stellar performances in the T20 internationals. The explosive right-hander has scored 274 runs in nine T20I with an outstanding average of 54.80 with a blistering century against Ireland in the two-match T20I series.
He can provide good strength to the Indian batting line-up in the top-order as he is currently in form and enjoying a purple patch with the bat. The skipper Rohit Sharma and team management might count on him as a replacement for KL Rahul in the super four round of the Asia Cup 2022.

The star wicketkeeper-batter has emerged as a vital component for team Indian in the last few years. He has proved his worth with the bat and also polished his wicketkeeping skills to contribute to the crucial matches for the team. Notably, he was dropped from the playing XI to include senior wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik in the final XI.
Although, he played in the next match against Hong Kong. But the management can pick him in the playing XI for a different role in the super four round of the Asia Cup 2022. He can replace KL Rahul in the opening slot to open the innings with the skipper Rohit Sharma.
Suryakumar Yadav
World number two batter Suryakumar Yadav has impressed everyone with his outstanding performances in T20 international cricket. Recently, he stunned everyone with his blistering knock of 68 runs off just 26 balls with six sixes and six boundaries to his name. Earlier, he also proved his worth to the team in the opening position.
So, the skipper Rohit Sharma can opt to promote Suryakumar Yadav up in the order to open the inning with him. KL Rahul might have to sit on the bench in the next upcoming matches of the 15th edition of the Asia Cup.
