On 5 April 2023, Rajasthan locked horns with Punjab in the ongoing Indian T20 League. It was the eighth match of the tournament. So, Ravichandran Ashwin was in action for Rajasthan while Shikhar Dhawan was in action for Punjab. Speaking of the match, Rajasthan won the toss and opted to bowl first.

But, during Punjab innings, Ravichandran Ashwin got involved in a funny incident with Shikhar Dhawan. The veteran off-spinner was bowling and Dhawan was at the non-striker end. The bowler came up with a cheeky pause in his run-up and that left the southpaw batter surprised. Fans also loved it and shared their views on the social media platform.

Speaking of the incident, it took place during the seventh over of Punjab’s innings. Ashwin came up to bowl while both Shikhar Dhawan and Prabhsimran Singh were batting. Before the fourth delivery of that over, Ravichandran Ashwin had a pause, and seeing that, Dhawan quickly returned to the crease. Fans found it funny as it seemed that the spinner gave a warning to the batter of a run-out at the non-striker end. However, Ashwin had already done the same while playing for Punjab against Rajasthan. That time, he ran out of his current Rajasthan teammate Jos Buttler.

In this match, Ravichandran Ashwin conceded 25 runs in four overs and took one wicket. Punjab batters gave a solid start. Prabhsimran Singh scored 60 runs off 34 balls, including seven fours and three sixes. Jitesh Sharma also scored 27 runs off 16 balls, including two fours and one six. But, it was the skipper, Shikhar Dhawan who played an outstanding knock. He smashed 86* runs off 56 balls, including nine fours and three sixes. Thus, Punjab scored 196 runs for four wickets in 20 overs. For Rajasthan, Jason Holder took two wickets for 29 runs in his four overs while both Ashwin and Chahal managed one wicket each.
