Arshdeep Singh reveals how the team stood by him after Asia Cup drop catch controversy

Young Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh has stunned and amazed everyone with his stellar performance in India’s tournament opener in the 20-20 World Cup 2022 against the arch-rivals Pakistan. He left everyone shocked by scalping the big wickets of two of the World’s best batters in T20I cricket currently, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan.

Although, things haven’t been easy for Arshdeep in the last couple of months since he dropped a sitter of Asif Ali against Pakistan during the super-4 match of the Asia Cup 2022. He has been subjected to harsh criticism to its extent and fans over emotional fans didn’t hesitate to call him a ‘Khalistani’.

Since the conclusion of the Asia Cup, many cricketers, experts, and fans have talked about that catch-drop nightmare for Arshdeep. Recently, former Indian skipper and senior batter Virat Kohli also spoke on the same just a few days back with senior Indian sports journalist Vimal Kumar.

But now, Arshdeep himself has come with his stand after the months have gone by since the incident happened. He went on to reveal the environment of the dressing room in such kind of tough situations.

“The team atmosphere is so good that we don’t let the outside noise get in. We enjoy each other’s company and stand up for each other in bad times. It really helps,” said the 23-year-old to the journalists following India’s thrilling win in the nail-biting thriller against Pakistan.

Now, Arshdeep will be seen in action with the Indian team on the 27^th of October when India will be facing the Netherlands in their second match of the 20-20 World Cup 2022. The Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney will host this match between India and Netherlands. Notably, the Dutch team has shown a brilliant game of cricket in their tournament against Bangladeshwhere the former lost the match only by a margin of 9 runs.
