It was a hard day at office for the Indian team in their 20-20 World Cup opener as they suffered a humiliating 10 wicket loss to Pakistan. The Indians hardly competed in the match and were outplayed by their arch-rivals in all departments. While every bowler from the Indian camp received a bashing, Mohammaed Shami took the most beating as he gave 43 runs in 3.5 overs. Shami was on the receiving end of the disappointed fans who flooded the social media with vile abuse for the fast bowler.

Shami, however, has found the backing of former India cricketer Virender Sehwag who slammed the trollers and said, “anyone who has represented the country “has India in their hearts far more than any online mob."

‘The online attack on Mohammad Shami is shocking and we stand by him. He is a champion and Anyone who wears the India cap has India in their hearts far more than any online mob. With you Shami. Agle match mein dikado jalwa," Sehwag added.

Other Indian players also came to Shami's rescue.

It was a rare off day for Shami who’s been bowling well for India across formats. Meanwhile, the loss has put India in a spot of bother. The team need to register a win against New Zealand to boost their hopes of qualification. On the other hand, if Pakistan beat New Zealand and New Zealand beat India, things could get tricky for the Men in Blue.
