‘Anna Final toh fir bhi nahi khilaya’ - Fans react as Ravichandran Ashwin praises Rohit Sharma ahead of 1st Test vs WI

Team India are all set to lock horns with West Indies in the first match of the two-match Test series in West Indies, starting on 12 July 2023. However, the Men in Blue lost the recent World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia. So, it was another setback for them as this was their second consecutive WTC final loss.

But, they did not play Ravichandran Ashwin and that created a huge debate among fans and former cricketers. After the match, Ashwin also came up with an explosive interview where he opened up about the dressing room atmosphere. But, now, ahead of the first match, the spinner came up with praise for skipper Rohit Sharma.

Ravichandran Ashwin is a fan of Rohit Sharma’s support and backing of players 

While speaking on his official YouTube channel, Ashwin was seen with Team India’s fielding coach, T Dilip as the episode was about his inspiring journey. On that episode, Ashwin asked him about his initial experience while meeting stars like the head coach Rahul Dravid, former skipper Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and others. In reply to that, Dilip also showered praise on Rohit.

He said: “A great human being. I think he is a fantastic person. One of the greatest things I have seen with him is that he likes to spend time with the players and like to know them a bit more apart from their professional.”

Then, Ashwin said: “His empathy for players and the support and the backing, and understanding of the players is something exemplary. And that is really why he has won so many titles also. I mean that is something that I will always take away with when it comes to Rohit.” Listening to that, fans shared their views on social media. However, Rohit got heavily criticised when he did not consider Ashwin in the playing XI of the WTC final. His captaincy also disappointed fans and former cricketers like Sunil Gavaskar.
