KL Rahul is currently busy playing for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the ongoing IPL. He is leading the franchise and they are currently in the third spot with eight points. But, on 25 April 2023, the Indian Cricket Board announced the 15-member squad for India vs Australia WTC Final.

KL Rahul manages to get a place in the squad. In recent times, his position in Team India has become a big question for fans and some former cricketers. Still, the team showed faith in him and gave him a place in the squad. Now, the former Team India spinner, Harbhajan Singh came up with a bold demand for Rahul.

While speaking on his official YouTube channel, Harbhajan Singh said that he wants KL Rahul to be the wicketkeeper for team India in the WTC final against the Aussies. In the squad, only Srikar Bharat is the available option as a wicketkeeper. But, if Rohit Sharma decides to play Rahul as a keeper, then they can add one more specialized batter or bowler to the playing XI. However, Rahul has been having a mixed IPL so far with the bat. In 7 matches, he has scored 262 runs, at an average of 37.42. But, his strike rate has been 113.91.
In their last game against Gujarat Titans (GT), he got criticised heavily by fans for bottling a 136-run chase. He scored 68 runs off 61 balls. After the match, the former Team India pacer, Venkatesh Prasad took an indirect dig at him with a cryptic tweet. He wrote: “Bottling a run chase when 30 needed of 35 balls with 9 wickets in hand requires some baffling batting. Happened with Punjab in 2020 on few ocassions losing games they should have won easily. As brilliant as Guj were with ball & Hardik smart with his captaincy, brainless from Lko”. However, he will be in action again on 28 April when LSG will take on Punjab Kings (PBKS).
