Moreover, the Indian cricket board has shortlisted Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad as the venue for the grand finale. It’s worth noting that India and Australia last played the grand finale of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 final, and the latter came out on top quite comfortably.

Interestingly, M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru doesn’t feature among the shortlisted venues as the Karnataka Cricket Association failed to secure the necessary clearances following the stampede at RCB’s IPL 2025 victory celebrations in June 2025.

Notably, as many as 11 people lost their lives in the tragic incident at the stadium and Bengaluru, and multiple people got injured. Since then, the stadium hasn’t hosted any international match. Most recently, the ICC also shifted the ICC ODI Women’s World Cup 2025 matches from Bengaluru to Navi Mumbai.

The report also mentioned that the ICC will announce the tournament’s full schedule next week. It’s worth noting that all Pakistan’s games will be played in Sri Lanka, which will act as a neutral venue for the Men In Green. Notably, three venues, including Colombo, will host the games in Sri Lanka.

It’s important to note that, as per the agreement by the ICC, BCCI, and the PCB, India and Pakistan will play all their multi-tournament games at a neutral venue till 2027. Also, if Pakistan reaches the grand finale in this mega event, the summit clash will be shifted to Sri Lanka.

For the unversed, India will enter the tournament as the defending champions, having won the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 edition, defeating South Africa in Barbados last year.
