Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant’s magnificent hundred in the fourth Test has earned him applause from all corners of the world. Whether it’s the fans or the experts, all hailed the southpaw as ‘legend’ in the making. Among all, one praise that Rishabh Pant will cherish more than others will be of Australian wicket-keeper batsman, Adam Gilchrist.

Gilchrist took Twitter and termed Rishabh Pant as the true 'match winner'. Gilchrist said that Pant's ability to score runs in crunch situations makes him a true match winner.

“It’s not just about how many you get, but also when you get them. If you can somehow sync the first with the second, when the team needs it most, you’re a true match-winner. Looking at you @RishabhPant17.”

Adam Gilchrist was one of Rishabh Pant’s childhood heroes and a word of praise from him will bring Pant plenty of satisfaction. Incidentally, Rishabh became the second wicketkeeper batsmen after Adam Gilchrist to score a hundred in India, Australia and England. Pant's style of play has often been compared to Adam Gilchrist.

Pant has been in red hot form in the last two series and have notched up one century and 4 half centuries in his last 6 Tests. Almost all of his runs came when India were in trouble. In the ongoing Test, Pant came into bat when India were struggling at 80-4. He cautiously built his inning, bailing India out of trouble and stitching a 113 run partnership with Washington Sunder for the 7th wicket.

Indian innings folder out 365, 160 runs more than England’s total of 205. It’ll be a massive task for England to escape a defeat in the test now. Looking at the wicket that has started turning, England might even struggle to escape an inning defeat.
